Single Digits

We're officially into single digit countdown mode around this house.

Nine days until our due date. Nine.

And we wonder with the coming of each day, "Will today be the day?"

This week's check up revealed that we are making progress towards labor and delivery, and that it could happen at any moment and is right around the corner. And so we wait. This might be the toughest part of the whole pregnancy for me. Waiting and wondering, wondering and waiting, yet trying to stay busy enough to remain a bit distracted from what will soon be a new life for us. I think to myself that I'm ready for this, but not at all ready for this. Ready to meet our little guy. Ready to hold him and look at him. Ready to love him outside of me. Ready to say good-bye to the belly and hello to sleeping in whatever position I want to. Ready to feel "normal" again, to breathe easier, to exercise, but not ready for the new body changes that happen after the birth of a baby.

Nine days.

In the meantime, we've been finishing up some things in preparation for the arrival of Baby Scott. My parents were gracious enough to allow us to use my brother's old bedroom as the nursery while we stay with them as we wait for our house to be built. With the help of my brother, they painted the room and moved furniture out and around so that our crib could be set up and we could make it our own space for the time being. I'm so thankful for that. I've been able to spend a lot of time unpacking our baby things, washing clothes, blankets and bottles and organizing it all so we can find things easily and have our own bedroom that is not overrun with all things baby. There are still a few little things left to do to bring it all together, but it's perfect for now. We won't go too crazy with the baby's room until we are settled into our new house.

My dad made a changing pad organizer that we could place in our room to keep all things related to dirty diapers on hand and with easy access. It turned out perfectly!

The cradle that my brothers and I slept in now has a new home next to our bed. My dad made this too, in 1979 when my older brother was born.

The fabric for our crib skirt and window valances arrived this week. I love how it looks with our crib and look forward to seeing it all come together courtesy of my mom's sewing abilities.

Yesterday we celebrated Matt's birthday. We went out to dinner at Backyard Bistro and then came home for dessert and presents. I tried my hand at a cheesecake, but not just any kind of cheesecake, a cinnamon roll cheesecake and it was awesome. Layers of dough mixed with cheesecake and cinnamon sugar globs all topped off with a cream cheese frosting. Thank you, Pinterest. Easy to make and delicious, I highly recommend trying it out if you or someone you know has a cinnamon roll love affair. You can find the recipe here.

We continue to work our way through this whole house process. It's not been the easiest road, but we are waiting on some price quotes for a floor plan to come back to us and have received the deed in our names to the land we will build on. Once we receive the price quotes, we hope to move forward in our decision making as soon as possible.

Other than that, I think we are as ready as we're going to be. Our hospital bags are packed, the sleeping quarters are set up, the car seat is in the car - now, we just wait for the big day to come. Praying it's sooner than later, but not too soon, so that my family can enjoy their long-awaited beach vacation that starts tomorrow.

Btw, I read your 13 week post cause that is what I am and the heart beat if our baby was also 160:) who knows maybe a boy. We'd love to see y'all sometime. We are just outside of Winston, but hope to make it to Raleigh at some point. Take care!
