Giving Thanks

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Psalm 100

For Thanksgiving this year, we stayed in Raleigh rather than splitting up our time between Raleigh and Charlotte. My older brother and his family came in to town and on Thanksgiving Day, we spent lunch with Matt's family and dinner with my family. Of course there was lots of good food and great company! On Friday, my family came together to fill bags with rice and beans for the local ministry here called With Love From Jesus. Last year around Christmas, we decided that instead of giving gifts to everyone from everyone, we would draw names and then participate in a service project as a family. Time went by and we were unable to get a solid plan together where we could all participate at the same time. So, we made it happen during Thanksgiving and divided out 75 pounds of rice and 75 pounds of beans. What a great blessing to spend a little bit of time doing something that will help someone else. I'm so thankful that we were all there and able to pitch in.

After we did our family project, we headed out to Sparians at North Hills for bowling fun to celebrate my nephew, Luke's, birthday. Although is "real" birthday wasn't until November 30, we celebrated together since we were all in one place at one time. A very rare occurrence! Oh, and by the way, Mom kicked everyone's butt. After bowling, the party continued with cake and presents. Look closely at the cake. Luke decorated it himself! A horse with haystacks in the grass.

We got a few smiles out of Della over the course of Thanksgiving weekend. What a treat it is to see her start to engage with people and take on her own little personality. Her cousins are in love with her and enjoy holding her and talking to her whenever they get the chance. But then again, don't we all?

Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving!
