In honor of my brother and sister-in-law and our soon-to-be-born niece, my "sisters" and I hosted a sweet red, pink and white themed baby shower this summer. While I loved planning the details of the shower, the colors, the invitations, the decorations, etc., planning and preparing the food is definitely not high up on my "things I like" list. The morning of the baby shower I found myself "stuck" not knowing what to start on first. Thanks to my parents and older brother for rescuing the rookie party throwers, everything came together beautifully and just how I had imagined it in my head. Holly and Anna rocked it with their flower arranging, cake ball making, game leading skills. I'm so thankful for all the help on the scenes and behind the scenes that went into making this day a memory for Erin and celebrating our sweet niece whom we are so very eager to meet!
We're ready for you Della!
The food spread consisted of cucumber sandwiches, green salad, cheese and crackers, tortellini and chicken salad, bruschetta and vegetable pizza. Thank you Southern Living and Pampered Chef for your delicious recipes!
We even had a dessert table. This was definitely my most favorite part of the planning!
Homemade sweet tea and pink lemonade were the drinks of choice and Holly's game was not one to disappoint! A cross between Charades and Pictionary, each person had the chance to draw out something that had to do with being pregnant and having babies. Each picture matched up with a candy bar and the person who guessed right received the candy bar that reflected the picture that was drawn.
So, if one guest drew "hospital bills" the candy bar that matched might be a Payday or 100 Grand. If another guest drew "breastfeeding", the winner would receive a Milky Way and so on. Get it? Quite fun. And it could be a little naughty depending on the topics you choose or the crowd present. More than one person asked whether we were at a baby shower or a bachelorette party, but rest assured, it wasn't that bad.
An old white window shutter made the perfect backdrop for baby photos of the
mom and dad-to-be.
And there was even some time for a few family photos...
